U10/U12/U14 Girls/Boys, Invitational Tournament

SouthWest Soccer Fest Classic and the Swift Current Soccer Association
(SCSA) would like to invite you to join us
for a weekend filled with fun, both on and off the
fields.
General
Tournament Information: SouthWest Soccer Fest Classic was started in 1997 by
S.C.S.A. to further prepare
and develop athletes for provincial competition. The first year included 5 local U11
teams and 2 U11 away teams. It quickly expanded and this year our 10th Annual SouthWest Soccer Fest Classic is open to U10,
U12, U14 boys and girls competition teams. We will accept mixed teams, however they
must play in the boys division. Games will be played at
the Southside Park and Highland Park. Maps to the facility are provided
below.
In general, rules follow SSA guidelines. See Rules of Play
section for official tournament rules. Up to 18 players may be
rostered. Players must be in right age group to participate. Teams
are guaranteed at least 3 games. Entry fee for U12/U14 teams is $300.00 per
team. U10 Teams entry fee is $250.00 per team
Teams must be affiliated with a province organization to
participate in the tournament. Out of province teams will be
required to send a letter of release from their local organization
to participate. They will also be required to show travel insurance at the tournament
headquarters. If you are not sure if your team is
affiliated with your province organization contact your local organization. *This is a Saskatchewan Soccer Association sanctioned event*
Fees,
Forms, and Deadlines: The entry fee of $300.00 or $250.00 per team, payable to Swift Current
Soccer Association, must be submitted with the completed application form.
Registration Form and
checks must be postmarked by May 9th, 2008. All registration forms
will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Entry forms without complete
entry fee will not be accepted. No refunds will be made
after an acceptance letter has been mailed to the team. Confirmation packets including
tournament rules and directions will be sent to each team after May
19th, 2008. Teams that cancel after May 9th, 2008 will forfeit their entry fee.
There will be
no Registration meeting but teams are responsible for getting their
coaches package before the start of their first game.
Rosters are due on or before this date. Games will be played Friday,
Saturday and Sunday, May 23rd - 25th, 2008.
Weekend Activities:. Before you head out and enjoy
the local attractions, be sure to attend the PLAYER
PARTY & SHOOTOUT on Saturday night 5:00pm at Highland
Field. All players receive a free ticket!
The party includes food, beverages, and an opportunity to meet some
fellow participants. There is also the Great Shootout for all teams.
So join us for a great time, free food
and free drinks! There will be a raffle for great prizes as
well.
Awards: Awards will
be presented to individuals on the Gold, Silver team in each
division. Tournament T-shirts will
be available for sale at the concession.

The 11th annual Southwest Soccerfest tournament took over Swift Current soccer fields and once again the weekend featured cold and wet weather conditions.
A total of 10 Swift Current Foresters United teams were among the 18 teams playing in four divisions.
The Under 12 boys United White team highlighted the weekend with a first place finish.
Under 12 boys
The Swift Current Foresters United White team claimed top spot in the five-team round robin with three wins and a tie.
The United White team, coached by Steve Kritzer and Clay Gerlach, began the tournament with a 5-2 win over United Red on Friday led by three goals from Parker White. Dylan Griffen and Marcus Mayall notched singles in the win, while Luis Cortes replied with a pair in the losing effort.
Saturday morning United White downed North Battleford Santos 4-2. Tyler Moate and Griffen each scored twice in the win.
Saturday afternoon United White rode a five-goal outburst from Griffen to a 7-0 win over the Saskatoon Aurora Angels. Moate and Austin Friesen also hit the scoresheet for Swift Current.
In their final round robin game United White tied the Moose Jaw Wanderers 2-2 on goals by Mayall and Tyler Moate.
In the final game Griffen scored his ninth and 10th goals of the tournament to stake United White to a 2-0 lead before Moose Jaw cut the lead to 2-1 at the half.
In the second half Austin Friesen added a insurance marker two minutes in to help Swift Current to a 3-1 win and the gold medal.
The United Red squad finished tied for third with a 1-2-1 record.
After falling 5-2 to United White on Friday United Red lost 5-1 to Moose Jaw on Saturday morning with a lone goal from Zac Nickel.
In their third game United Red defeated Aurora 6-0 led by a pair of goals from Jarrett Gerlach and Nickel. Dominic Vallee and Cortes also added singles in the victory.
In their final game United Red tied North Battleford Santos 1-1 on a Dominic Vallee goal.
Under 10 girls
Four Swift Current Forester United teams competed with the Dynamite coming out on top of the round robin with two wins and one tie. The Dynamite defeated the Lightning 3-0, the Twisters 1-0 and tied the Wildcats 2-2.
The Wildcats also finished with a 2-0-1 record with wins over the Lightning and the Twisters and a 2-2 tie with the Dynamite.
The Twisters finished 1-2 with a 2-1 win over the Lightning.
In the tournament final the Wildcats downed the Dynamite 1-0.
Under 10 boys
In the four-team round robin the Prince Albert Celtics dominated the field, outscoring their opponents 19-1 to finish in first place in the round robin.
The Swift Current United girls finished in second spot with a 4-0 win over the Swift Current boys, a 1-0 win over the Moose Jaw Strikers, and a 4-0 loss to the Celtics.
In the final the Celtics defeated the United girls once again to claim top spot.
Lindsay Dickie, Sloane Gowan, Delina McGuire, and Tara Kirkpatrick each scored in the win over the Swift Current boys.
Kirkpatrick scored the lone goal in the 1-0 close win over Moose Jaw.
The United boys went winless with losses to Prince Albert, Moose Jaw, and the Swift Current girls.
Under 14 boys
Two Foresters United teams took part in the five-team U14 round robin tournament.
The United boys, coached by Al Findlay and Paul Hammerton, finished second behind undefeated Prince Albert Celtic with a 1-1-2 record.
The United boys began the tournament with a 3-2 win over the United girls on Saturday morning before falling 5-0 to Prince Albert.
Cody Froese scored twice in the win followed by a single from Levon Majeran-Findlay with a single.
Sage Gowan and Cassiday Andres scored for the girls.
On Sunday the United boys tied Battleford Santos 3-3 and the Moose Jaw Ice 2-2.
Froese found the net twice more with another single from Majeran-Findlay against Santos.
The United girls finished the weekend with one win and three losses but scored in each game and were the only team to pierce the Celtics armor for a goal when Sage Gowan headed in a late goal in a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Prince Albert.
The United girls also did the boys a favour when they knocked North Battleford out of second place with a come-from-behind 3-1 win on Sunday. Swift Current fell behind 1-0 early but responded with a trio of second half goals from Shelby East, Gowan, and Katie Letwiniuk to secure a silver medal finish for the United boys.
The United girls, coached by Bill and Chris Thomas, also dropped games to the United boys and Moose Jaw 3-1.

The Swift Current Foresters United Soccer Club will be keeping local soccer pitches busy this weekend with its 11th annual Southwest SoccerFest tournament.
A total of 18 teams will compete in four divisions from U10 to U14, including 10 Foresters United teams.
Two local teams will be among five in the U14 division at Riverside Field.
The United U14 boys, coached by Al Findlay will begin the tournament by facing the United girls at 8 a.m. on Saturday. At noon the boys will face Prince Albert. On Sunday the United boys will face North Battleford at 8 a.m. and Moose Jaw at 12 p.m.
The United girls, coached by Bill Thomas will meet Moose Jaw on Saturday at 2 p.m., Prince Albert Sunday at 10 a.m. and North Battleford at 2 p.m.
Two Swift Current teams coached by Steve Kritzer will see action in the U12 boys division beginning with a head-to-head meeting Friday night meeting at 6:30 p.m.
United White will face North Battleford at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Saskatoon Aurora at 3:30 p.m. Sunday United White will face Moose Jaw at 8 a.m.
United Red will begin play Saturday at 8 a.m. against Moose Jaw followed by an 11:45 meeting with Saskatoon Aurora. Sunday United Red will face North Battleford Santos at 11:45 a.m.
In the U10 girls division four Swift Current United teams will begin play on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. and Sunday at 9:15 a.m.
The U10 girls medal games are slated for 1 p.m. on Sunday at Highland Park.
In the U10 boys division two Swift Current teams will compete with Moose Jaw and Prince Albert.
U10 boys action begins both days at 10:30 a.m. at Highland Park and will conclude with the medal games at 2:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Saturday night will also feature the annual barbeque at Highland Park and the shootout for the U10 and U12 divisions to follow. The U14 shootout will take place at 3:30 p.m. at Riverside Field.
