2007 PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

Dear Club Members,

Swift Current Soccer was another successful year with 961 registrants for the Outdoor and Indoor rec soccer. The Under 10 to 4 year old programs are the strongest with 500 total registered Our senior teams were a force this year with the men winning Gold in Indoor Provincials and women winning Gold in the Outdoor Provincials. The board’s main focus has been developing coaches and referees. Last summer was the first year the coaches clinic wasn’t held due lack of interest. We also looked into purchasing a building and hired an engineer to do an inspection and draw up some plans and had the roof inspected but after discussing the reports the board decided not to proceed with that project as a future facility.

Our main focus for the 2007-2008 will have to be recruiting new board members for the future of soccer. Many long term members (some 20 years) and key members have retired or are planning to in the next year. There is a new generation of soccer players that will be in the system for a while and need volunteers from that age group to take over this healthy club to the next level.

Thank you board members for your hard work in this past year and all the volunteers that helped us along the way.

Yours in Soccer,

President

Anita Evans

    Executive Headlines

  • Nov 22nd, 2007:   S.C.S.A   AGM  The Swift Current Soccer Association held their Annual General Meeting which also featured the presentation of the annual awards. Innovation Credit Union was recognized with a Years of Service Award for their ongoing support of youth soccer in Swift Current. Susan Woods accepted the award on behalf of Innovation Credit Union.

What was supposed to be a celebration of another successful season was overshadowed by another disappointing turnout to the AGM which included only four Board Members.
For an organization that serves over 1,000 registered soccer players the shortage of people willing to volunteer their time may soon affect the availability of soccer in Swift Current, possibly as soon as the 2008 outdoor season.
Anyone interested in being a Board member, a director, or a co-ordinator is encouraged to get in touch with the SCSA.
